JuniorHockey.com today announced that Stefan Brucato, of the Western States Hockey League's Idaho Steelheads, has been named the National Player of the Week for the period ending April 3rd.

Brucato is not the biggest of players but he showed up big on Sunday in El Paso, Texas.

Idaho's leading scorer in the regular season scored six times, including the game-winner in overtime, carrying his team to victory over the Dallas Ice Jets in the Thorne Cup Championship game.

Ice Jets' bench boss Paul Taylor was impressed by Brucato's play. "The performance that Stefan put on for his team in the championship game was nothing short of phenomenal," Taylor said on Tuesday. "In my 33 years of playing and coaching, I have never seen an offensive performance like that and can assure you, I will never see it again."

In a combined total of 52 games this season, the Colorado Springs native racked up 75 points (32g, 43a) and 9 game winning goals.

JuniorHockey.com would like to congratulate Brucato and his team for capturing the 2011-2012 Thorne Cup for the second consecutive season.
